when you sit in nature for long enough, the cycles start to become apparent. as summer advances, the cicadas get louder and more frequent until it seems like they are constant. where i sit and practice i hear the cicadas start way down the valley, and over the next couple of minutes they get louder and closer and pass by like a sonic breeze, then rest, and then again.
